My First Impression of Marry Me, Mary!!!! Flat Drama with Amazing Casts

I just watched the first two episode of MARRY ME, MARY. What should i say? Not much... It's not too cutesy and adorable (except for the relationship had by JGS and MGY) nor it has an open ending that we couldn't predict the ending or vague clarity that we couldn't understand why it happens.

So, here goes the story... Wi Mary (Meun Geun Yong) has a freaking dummass father whose's work is simply making debt and dragging the whole family into debt. Therefore, as a loving child, Mary works her ass like hell to pay all the debt. On a great day, she get a call from her friend who needs driver and Mary is happy to do that as long as she got paid. So there she goes driving her friends.

On her way she accidentally hit Mu Gyeol (Jang Geun Seok). She, then, tries to get a written signed agreement from Mu Gyeol to avoid the possibilities of being blackmailed by Mu Gyeol. From here their life get bounded to each with bickering cute moments and many soju bottles. Mary then met Jung In (KJW), the fiancee to be set up by Mary's father and Chairman Seok (Jung In's father) who used to be bestfriends on the old days and it seems they are still bestfriends until now,

Things got complicated when Mary who doesn't want to be engaged nor marry Jung In, makes a weeding photos with Mu Gyeol, also cheered by both besties and then show it to her father. Mary's father becomes agitated and decides to do an extreme move by registering Mary's name and Jung In's name upon marriage without Mary's knowledge. To cancel the document, Mary would have to sue her own father turn him as a criminal for faking document. If i were her, i would've done that. Mary, obviously, can't do that.

Knowing the fact that Mary is married (though it's a fake one and he doesn't know...yet), Jung In propose to his father to give 100days as a chance for Mary to live in between these 2 husbands and let Mary decide who will she choose in the end: Mu Gyeol or himself, Jung In. The competition between fake marriage of Mary-Mu Gyeol OR parents arranged marriage Mary-Jung In has just began.

The story is somehow simple but i'm not sure about its charm. Fake marriage or arranged marriage turns real marriage is not a new idea. We saw the fake marriage in Full House and i read one about arranged marriage from Indonesian novel. So overall, for me this drama brings nothing new. Though so, thank God, they cast Jang Geun Seok as Mu Gyeol (a.k.a. Happy New Year) and Meun Geun Yong as Wi Mary (or should we call her Merry Christmas ^^). They are the only thing that's worth to be watched... The face...the bickering...the chemistry...the sillyness (what's up with the cauliflower????? Amazingly silly but in a cute way. Florist!!! Start using cauliflower to replace roses from now on please! It's bigger and healthier!!).

I have always felt a big favor towards MGY since i watched her in Little Bride... While JGS left me a pretty deep impression as a beautiful cute man in Hwang Jini... MGY as Mary is adorably so cute that she managed to pull off Pussy On The Boot teary eyes... She's such a great actress... From cute Little Bride to tomboy Painter of The Wind  to cold bastard Cinderella Sister to cute sweety daugther who makes guys go 'Marry Me, Mary' ... She knows how to do everything. Eyes to mouth...body to voice. Different. As usual, JGS is cute and beautiful. And i actually not a fan of beautiful man. But i can't hate him for being beautiful, especially in this drama. Not when he is the reason why i watch this drama. JGS does great in depicting Mu Gyeol. I think the writer made the image of beautiful Mu Gyeol based on the real JGS, i mean... I can't think of any other actor that would have pretty beautiful image as JGS. (Sush to those who scream Lee Sung Ki's name... xP)

KJW on the other hand make me feel like i'm watching an upgraded version of the wafel maker in Coffee Prince.. Same cold attitude but with dandier and sleeker fashion style plus gentlemanly jerk attitude (Mary says that...not me). He's doing good so far up until episode 2, from the coldness side. I'm hoping to see more of his fun side actually but i guess Jeong In character is supposed to be a cold chaebol son with perfect mark as future husband, financially and physically.

The drama itself has a very clear foundation. Clear because from the first time i can feel the chemistry between Mu Gyeol and Mary. I can understand why Mary is drawn towards Mu Gyeol and vice versa. They have a lot in common which is being deceived, although from Mu Gyeol's side the story hasn't been unfold much yet except when he tried to terminate a contract with a woman who is apparently a sly agent. I can understand why Mary's father insists Mary to marry Jung In. Most of it is because Jung In is damn so rich that Mary won't have to suffer from the debt collectors nagging again and as the bonus, all of the debt will be paid. I can also understand Jung In's proposal of 100days for Mary. Even though it's an arranged married, he wants Mary to agree upon her own willingness. Fair for her, fair for his father and it's a win win solution for him. Whether Mary will choose him or not, he will still get the sponsorship from his dad. I can also feel for Chairman Seok preserverance of protecting Mary from suffering. Trust me, I haven't read any recaps nor watch the episode streaming because I SWEAR TO GOD i don't want any spoiler, but i can sense that Chairman Seok has a deep feeling towards Mary's mother in the past that he wants to protect Mary badly from any kind of suffering in this world because Mary reminds him of her mother A LOT.

Despite of many reviews say that this drama is silly for its  unacceptable plot, i dare to say that it would be still fun to watch this drama. If not, why do they even bother spending 20 hours of watching this drama, right??? It means this drama still has something to hook you up. For my drama besties, that would be because of JGS while as for me it's because MGY. It's meant for entertainment. So let's just enjoy it :)

Based on JGS and MGY i would give them 4 stars out of 5 stars. 3 stars is enough for the story. So if you have list of drama you want to watch, you can put in your big 5 or big 10 list, on the last line.

A small piece of Rich Dad Poor Dad

I was wandering around my boss living room yesterday when i found this book entitled Rich Dad Poor Dad. It wasn't captivated my heart so bad but since it was raining so hard that day and i was running out of courage to stay alone at the office because of the thunder, i decided to take look at the book.

The subtitle caught my eyes... It's says Work to Learn, Don't Work for money. Then i read that chapter randomly. Since then i've decided i need to finish our reading this book.

This morning, when i arrived at my office, i found myself reading the book as a side dish entertainment. It turned out i found a piece of great conversation between a 9 year old son who wants to know how to get rich and a rich dad who wants to teach the son how to be rich. The son was employed for 3 hours everyday for 10 cents per hour (as supposed to 25 cents per hour). 1 month passed by with no conversation about the exact way of HOW TO BE RICH and he was ready to quit...

"You lied to me. I've worked for you and you have not kept your word. You haven't TAUGHT me anything".

"How do you know that i've NOT TAUGHT you anything?" asked rich dad calmly.

"Well you never talked to me. I've worked for three weeks, and you have not taught me anything," I said with a pout.

"DOES TEACHING MEAN TALKING OR A LECTURE?" rich dad asked.

"Well, yes" I replied.

"That's how they teach you in school," he said smiling. " But that is not how life teaches you, and i would say that LIFE IS THE BEST TEACHER OF ALL. MOST OF THE TIME, LIFE DOES NOT TALK TO YOU. IT JUST SORT OF PUSHES YOU AROUND. EACH PUSH IS LIFE SAYING 'WAKE UP. THERE'S SOMETHING I WANT YOU TO LEARN' ".

I'm still on my way of finishing the book, but i already feel this connection with the book that it will give me a broader view of Education (as every book has done to me..)
